Random Thoughts and Observations 104

It's been around 8 months since I left the Land of Smiles (i.e. Thailand) and went back to a mainstream life in the West. I got a job, and I'm reasonably happy.
But I still remember my time meeting and dating Thai ladyboys, and I'm sure as hell going back.

So what's been going on lately?

A lot of guys tell me they're interested in ladyboys, but they feel they have to be secretive about it, at least until they're ready to "come out" about it, so to speak.

But is wanting to date and maybe marry a ladyboy such a big thing? After all, in the UK guys have been able to marry other guys for at least a year now. Two biological guys can even adopt a kid in this country.

Put your ladyboy love in perspective though. In the UK a former well known male celebrity has just come out as a transsexual and is now on our TV screens in female form. Now that's a big thing to do! Of course it's attracted attention, but there's also been a lot of acceptance.

I live quite close to London, and I've seen one or two Asian ladyboys in and around the ChinaTown area of central London. Give it 10 or 20 years and transsexuals will be a much more of a common sight. When I was at school there was one black kid in our entire school, and maybe half a dozen kids of Chinese descent. Now if you walk past your average school in the UK it's like a convention of the junior United Nations.

So diversity is coming, and transsexuals will be a part of it.

One thing is clear though, ladyboys are becoming immensely popular, and sites like Asian Love Connections and MyLadyboyDate are becoming THE place to go and chat to some of the world's most exotic and beautiful creatures.

I still chat to one or two ladyboys online. The hookers bailed out a long time ago - they find it too easy to find new guys to chat to.

The sensible girls message me once in a while, but it is hard to maintain long distance friendships, especially if you have commitments back home like work and family. It's very hard to try and live in two different continents at the same time. So for this reason I always say that if you want to date Asian ladyboys (or women) then do whatever you can to save up enough cash so you can go and live there for a while.

My Online Bride

A few nights ago I watched an interesting Channel 4 TV show about British guys seeking foreign brides. If you want to Google it, it was called My Online Bride. It's essential viewing for anyone thinking of finding an overseas partner.

While ladyboys didn't get a mention (they've had their own dedicated TV series over on Sky TV), the show has really got a lot more guys interested in seeking partners from overseas.

If you can't find the show to watch online, then the multiple take home messages were:
  • YOU can find higher quality partners overseas.
  • Finding a foreign bride is EXPENSIVE and you'll have to budget for around 8000 UK pounds (around $13,000).
  • It's psychologically hazardous for a man to fall in love in ANY country.
  • Women lie and cheat regardless of their nationality.
  • To find the best partner, go and live in another country for a while (6 months+).
  • To attract women, be more alpha.
  • Women want to marry one-women-men. By all means travel to another country and meet several women in a single trip. But DON'T tell woman A about woman B, C, or D. DO let it be known that you ARE popular with women though, but think of ways to be more subtle about it.
  • If the topic of money comes up early in the relationship, be ready to bale out. I once dated a lovely Thai girl, but her sister had designs on my bank account. This was pretty much identical to the experience one of the guys featured in the TV show had happen to him.
The TV show focussed on Ukraine and Thailand, but unlike the producers you can think outside the box and add on the Philippines (for ladyboys) and China (if you like Asian women; Chinese ladyboys are somewhat rarer).

If you've seen My Online Bride what did you think about it? Do you think going to a different country to find love is a good idea or is it truly crazy?

Thailand Photo Blog #2

In the second instalment of photos from Thailand I bring you a few photos from Pattaya. This coastal city is absolutely worth a visit if ladyboys are your thing.

Just don't fall in love here!

Pattaya is of course known for its crazy nightlife. Whole streets are full of open air bars like this one:

What's more, just about all the ladies (and ladyboys) in these bars are available.

In Pattaya, motorcycles can be rented for as little as $5 a day:

Before you saddle up, just remember Thailand's sobering traffic accident statistics.

Talking of being sober, you might want to down a couple of beers before impressing the local ladyboys with your love of edible insects:

Edible scorpions are pretty scary - and so is Pattaya's weather at times. Here's a flooded Beach Road:

A few inches of rain doesn't do too much to dampen the party atmosphere though. If anything, you'll get more attention in the bars and clubs on a rainy night as fair weather folk stay in and watch the TV.

Wish you were here...?

Imagine speeding off round the bay with a couple of bikini clad ladyboys to help you steer!

If you read my China photo blog #1 then you'll appreciate the language barrier a foreigner has to face in that country. In Thailand the nightlife is made much more foreigner friendly due to signs like these:

More of that neon, this time illuminating a gogo bar:

If you've never visited a gogo bar then add it to your bucket list of things to do.

Pattaya is full of gogo bars, some with ladies, some with ladyboys, and just a few with a real mixture of genders.

A gogo bar is a great place to stare at women without getting slapped. Just keep the money flowing out of your wallet, and you'll be guaranteed a great time in these places. Don't worry though - they're way, way, cheaper than table dancing venues you might have back in your own country.

Is the whole sex tourist thing an outdated concept?

One thing noticeable in Pattaya's walking street now are the increasing numbers of Chinese tourists.

They largely walk around in groups, and don't tend to go in the bars themselves:

I guess this is like some kind of sex tourism tourism.

Anyway, it's a reminder that the world is changing, and that going on holiday to Thailand is not something that just American, Brits or Germans do.

Whatever life decisions you make in Thailand, it's better to make them in the cold light of day. Then the glitzy neon bars and clubs look pretty darned ordinary:

Have fun when YOU next visit Pattaya!

China Random Photo Blog #1

Here are a few photos from my time spent in China.

China isn't a great place to find ladyboys to be honest. A shame really, since Chinese ladies are ultra, ultra hot, and ladyboys with Chinese genes are often the hottest of the hot. Plus foreign dudes are very popular in China.

Still, Chinese culture has a huge influence throughout Asia, so you can definitely impress your own ladyboy dates with your knowledge of all things Chinese.

Anyway, let's kick off this article with photo that looks very traditionally Chinese:

This is why Canton is nick-named Garden City. The downside is that lush, sub-tropical foliage like this signifies that it rains here. A lot.

People often go on holidays to Thailand and the Philippines as these developing countries have a lower cost of living than back home.

China is also a developing country. However, unlike Thailand and the Philippines, China has made substantial investment in first world infrastructure, like high speed express trains:

A common sight on the street of any Chinese city - crowded buses and beautiful ladies:

Another beautiful Chinese woman. It's also worth pointing out that Chinese ladies tend to be a lot taller than ladies from neighbouring countries like the Philippines.

Incidentally, this lady is ordering a bottle of bamboo juice. Not delicious!

So hot ladies everywhere, but if you want to impress 10's here, you'll need a nice big apartment.

Well renting a condo is easier said than done when the realtor window display looks like this:

So you won't get too far in China without an interpreter to help you on occasion.

Thankfully though, some Chinese characters are really easy to understand:

As are these:

Incidentally, massages are as popular as they are in Thailand, although there's much more of a language barrier than there is in Thailand or the Philippines.

Back to more mundane everyday life, and one thing I really noticed about the Chinese was their tradition of hanging their washing outside. Maybe this is why so many Chinese laundries set up shop in the USA and other countries:

Another thing you'll definitely notice in China is how much more crowded it is than anywhere else.

When you're living in amongst this many people, you'll appreciate why an authoritarian state is needed to keep things orderly...

All these people competing for jobs and resources mean that it can be hard work to be Chinese. So it's not surprising you'll see the locals catching up on well earned Zzzz's anywhere they can:

Thailand Random Photo Blog #1

Here's the first in an occasional series of randomly taken photos from Asia. If you want a ladyboy girlfriend then you'll have to go to Asia at some point. So here's what you can expect from your time in a country like Thailand...

Pretty ladies are everywhere in Asia! In Thailand, pretty ladies who do promotional stuff are called Pretties. Sometimes they're ladyboys, but usually they're not:

When you go to SE Asia, be sure to take an umbrella. Tropical thunderstorms are random and unpredictable:

In Bangkok there's another thing that's unpredictable - the traffic! Actually that's not quite true: when I was living there, the traffic was usually terrible:

How old is your Thai girlfriend? Really? Here on Bangkok's Khaosan Road you can buy all kinds of fake ID...

I'd just like to mention that Western dudes have been jailed as a result of the consequences of using fake documents bought in street markets.

Do you think any Thai nationals have ever been prosecuted for using fake documents? Ha ha ha, you're having a laugh!

Will you love your ladyboy long time? Most dudes I saw in Sukhumvit Soi 4 only spent 20 minutes with their new ladyboy girlfriend! But if you think the relationship has a future, then there are plenty of street stalls where you can buy a gift for the girl or ladyboy of your dreams:

Many guys associate Thailand with ladyboys, beaches, palm trees and Beer Chang. But one thing that surprised me on my first visit there was just how devoutly religious the local population are. For example, here's a store where you can buy a Buddhist religious statue that would really impress your friends and family (you might go over your 23Kg airline luggage allowance though)...

Anyway, back to ladies!

Thais love to dance, and if you spend any amount of time in Thailand you might be lucky to see a dance competition or two. I'm pretty sure these are ladies, but I did also see some troupes of ladyboys doing much the same...

Incidentally, if you buy your new ladyboy girlfriend a pair of killer heels like these girls are wearing, she'll be sure to love you long time!

More dancing - this time at a school sports day:

I have to say that the sports wasn't up to much. Like in most other countries, child obesity is reaching epidemic proportions. But I was very impressed with the dance competition held after the last of the relay races.

I did also notice that there were actually a few femboys and ladyboys amongst the pupils of this particular school. Here they were totally accepted, which was really nice to see. Back home could you ever imagine a boy turning up to school wearing a skirt?

Back to that obesity remark, and this dude might have something to do with it:

Probably the first thing you'll notice in Thailand is people adopting the Wai pose when they greet each other. This after all is the famous Land of Smiles.

Finally what the heck are you doing reading my ramblings? You should be in Pattaya, with a gorgeous ladyboy waiting for you to join her in the warm tropical seas...

Geek Burns Out of Dating

A year in Asia... 50+ dates... so what did I learn?

Going on dates is a lot of fun. But finding a life partner... that takes a whole lot of searching.

I'd guestimate that 20% of the dates I met would have made good life partners.

You might get lucky and find Miss 100%, but otherwise it's a bit of a trade off. Do you go for looks? Personality? Or find somebody who is a general all round "7"?

I dated some VERY attractive Asian ladies, but 9's and 10's had their own particular problems. And it troubled me that the hottest date I had in Thailand left her last boyfriend because he kept cheating on her. If she was so hot then why did he do that?

Ladies not Ladyboys?

I'd liked to have dated more ladyboys, but finding ones who were more into dating than fucking for money was not at all easy in Bangkok.

Anyway, if you do want an Asian lady or ladyboy life partner, then here are my 10 top tips:
  1. Finding marriage minded ladyboys worth marrying is hard work. Harder work even than finding a Thai bride.
  2. Bar ladies are best avoided - not so much because they work in a bar, but because of the backstory to their lives that have made them ending up working in a bar. Quite a few bar ladies are rather fond of Beer Chang or other substances - habits which are hard to kick. Bar ladyboys could well be a moderately safer bet, as there are far fewer opportunities for ladyboys to finance the kind of bodymods you guys want them to invest in. For example, getting a boob job will cost a ladyboy 4 months wages in an average job (assuming she saves 100% of her monthly income that is).
  3. Be careful dating ladyboys (or ladies) who don't speak much English. I dated a few Asian ladies who were total psychological messes - but if you don't speak their language and they don't speak yours, how would you ever find out? Ladyboys can have major psychological issues - a result of conflicting hormones, family problems and the hardships of living in a society where ladyboys still face prejudices.
  4. If somebody really likes you - they'll want to talk to you and hang out with you. Avoid anyone who doesn't often reply to your messages right away, or who is a pain in the ass when it comes to scheduling dates. Maybe they've got other guys on the go. Maybe they're just not that into you.
  5. On the other hand, clingy people are to be avoided at all costs, unless you actually like them and want to see them again. Clingy ladies and ladyboys will tug at your heart strings and cause you a lot of problems down the line. My rule is that if they weren't worth a second date, I delete them from my phone and instant messaging apps. It's kinder on them as well.
  6. Don't make any hasty decisions in Thailand, the Philippines or anywhere else. Jetlag and extreme heat and humidity will really cloud your judgement and it takes at least a week to acclimatise if you're flying in from Europe or the USA. God knows I talked to some delusional Western dudes while I was living in Bangkok.
  7. Don't enter business or property partnerships with Asian girlfriends or prospective marriage partners.
  8. It's best to avoid anyone in Asia who has a crazy ex-. For that reason, I'm wary of divorced ladies, and I don't go near anyone who is still married (there are quite a few marrieds on sites like Thai Love Links).
  9. Dating can get pretty intense, so always have a side project. Don't let dating get in the way of doing man stuff.
  10. Finally, don't take dating too seriously. Treat it as a lot of fun - and if you find somebody special, then so much the better.

Enjoy your own Asian lady/ladyboy dating experience!

Test Your Ladyboy Detection Skills...

Think you're good at spotting ladyboys? Here's a lady/ladyboy quiz:
Have a go, and if you do really well or really badly then add your comments below!

For the record, I scored 4 out of 6, so I failed to spot 2 ladyboys.

Having spent most of 2013 living in Asia, I must admit there were plenty of ladies who could well have been ladyboys. I just couldn't be sure at all. Better hormone therapy and cheap body mods mean that ladyboys are more feminine looking than ever these days. Plus the women at home seem to be getting less feminine!

I still think one of the Chinese women I dated was a ladyboy. I never did figure her out - but who cares because she was hot as hell!

Better to Marry a Ladyboy Than a Woman From My Own City?

Congratulations - if you're a ladyboy lover and you live in the UK then you can now marry your ladyboy girlfriend!

So a big step forward in the cause of equal rights, as well as for transexuals' rights.

Over at ladyboy friendly dating sites like Asian Love Connections and MyLadyboyDate I've seen a surge of interest from Western guys seeking out ladyboy girlfriends/possible partners.

Why is that?

Well I'm now back in the UK and if my own experiences of OKCupid are anything to go by then I'd be better off marrying a ladyboy. I mean the average ladyboy I met in Thailand is hotter than the women who OKCupid "thinks" I might be interested in...

Nothing for me in my OKCupid matches this week.
Profiles blurred to protect the innocent - god knows in a few years women
might pass laws banning guys from marrying anyone from another country...

What's more, the ladyboys I met in Thailand tended to have a great sense of humour, and were just so much fun to be around.

I'm waiting to see just how many British dudes take up the government's offer and actually marry their transsexual partners. I'm sure your average ladyboy would look totally fabulous in a wedding dress.

But I guess a guy/ladyboy wedding will be a pretty rare sight in England. Most dudes with any sense go off to live with their ladyboy partners in somewhere like Thailand or the Philippines. If this appeals to you then check out some ladyboy-themed trip reports from Pattaya and the Phillies:
You'll also find some trip reports from China on there. China's maybe of less interest if you're exclusively into ladyboys. Chinese ladyboys would be smoking hot beyond belief, but they're just not numerous enough to make it worth visiting the People's Republic.

Actually I kind of think that one of the Chinese ladies I dated might actually have been a ladyboy. She had a husky voice, killer legs and the long flowing hair I've seen on so many Thai ladyboys. Sadly I never did find out the full story of her interesting past...

If the right one came along... would YOU marry a ladyboy? Post your opinions below.

If You Love Ladyboys, Should You Move to Asia?

Greetings Ladyboy Lovers,

In this post I'll attempt to answer the 6 million dollar question...

If you like ladyboys, are you better off moving to Asia?

I spent a good part of 2013 living in Thailand. I also spent time in China and Malaysia, and I've visited Japan and Hong Kong before.

Both Thailand and Malaysia offered great standards of living, and of course ladyboys!

So would I actually recommend living in Asia on a longer term basis?

For me the two key issues you need to address are MONEY and VISAS.

On the visas side of things, it's actually not that easy to go and live in another country. In Thailand I could only get a 30 day visa on arrival. To stay for longer I ended up getting an ED visa. That involved enrolling in a language school and pretending to study Thai. Needless to say it involved me spending plenty of money, and having the hassle of a visa run to Malaysia and back to get my papers rubber-stamped. And after that, I still had to do 90 day reporting at immigration.

It's generally easier to get long stay visas for the Philippines.

If you're an older guy then you could also look into getting a retirement visa for Thailand.

So visas are a hassle, but money talks and if you have money, you'll generally be able to find a way of staying in another country long time.

Ah, money.

MONEY is the key thing you'll need to realise your dream of living in a ladyboy haven such as Thailand.

So what are the options when it comes to MONEY?

If you're a regular guy like me, then you have two options:

  1. Work in a Western country and build a warchest of savings.
  2. Go and work in Asia.
If you're serious about living in Asia, then I highly recommend you live frugally in the West and save every darned penny you can. Pour money into long term investments like stocks and rental property, so you'll have an income once you make the move to Asia.

It is also possible to work in Asia. Take Thailand for example. The country has low unemployment, and a real shortage of smart people. So if you work in IT, finance, law or another "white collar" profession then you might be able to find a job out there. A friend of a friend found a decent job in Bangkok in just two weeks of looking. I also nearly found one, but they were reluctant to pay anything much more than a local salary.

The fallback is to teach English. This isn't as highly paid in Thailand as it is in China. However, it might be your best shot of finding work in Thailand.

If you like the idea of teaching English, then the best preparation you can do is to get a CELTA or TESOL qualification under your belt. You can do this in your own country, or in Thailand. An intensive course lasts 30 days, but if you do it back in your own country it's possible to find part-time courses that allow you to fit study around work.

So having addressed the financial side of things, is it actually worthwhile to live in Asia?

I was generally impressed with Thailand when I lived there. I found a nice room in central Bangkok for less than $350 a month. Food was way cheaper than at home, and there was plenty to see and do in Bangkok. One other huge advantage is that Thailand is a green and pleasant land, with way less pollution than other Asian countries like China.
I was generally impressed with Bangkok. It offers expats a great standard of living,
even if the never ending heat is hard to take at times.

Of course if you like ladyboys then Thailand is going to be your paradise on earth. When I used to get the Bangkok SkyTrain to downtown I generally saw at least one ladyboy in every carriage of the train. I'd guestimate that at least 1% of the Thai population of Bangkok are transsexuals.

I had no problem meeting ladyboys in Bangkok, although I remain to be convinced that Thailand is a good place to find a long term partner.

The Philippines is an alternative to Thailand. Things that would put me off the Philippines though are higher crime, more poverty, worse food and a harsher climate than Thailand. In its favour, it's far easier to get a visa. Philippines ladyboys are generally more petite and curvier than their Thai sisters. One other gigantic advantage is that English is much more widely spoken than it is in Thailand. My first Thai ladyboy girlfriend spoke very little English, and it was a real uphill struggle making progress with the relationship. Maybe I'd have done better in the Phillies!

Finally I must also mention Malaysia. There are plenty of ladyboys there, although being a Muslim country the transsexual dating scene is a bit more underground than it is in Thailand. Kuala Lumpur did impress me though, and it would be a fabulous place to live and work.
If you are thinking of moving to anywhere in Asia, my best piece of advice is to visit the place first. Thailand was just so much different to how I imagined it to be.

Finally, just don't go mad in Asia, particularly in Thailand. With all those hot ladyboys, bars that open 24/7, strong local beer and prostitutes on tap, it's so easy to lose your mind, your fortune and maybe even your life. I lived in central Bangkok for 6 months, with a couple of visits to Pattaya, and God knows I saw some stupid shit in those months.
With ladyboys this smoking hot, it's so easy for any guy to lose his mind in Asia...

So have your fun with ladyboys, but have some other focus in your life, like a job, or a hobby - and NO, by that I don't mean sitting in a Pattaya bar all day long!

If you've got any questions about living or working in Thailand or elsewhere in Asia, then leave your comments below...

Shhhh! I'm a Ladyboy Lover...

Hi,

I'm a guy who likes ladyboys, but I'm always a little more cautious about talking about my actual dates with ladyboys than I am with my dates with women. Maybe you're the same.

So in this article I'll run through some of the privacy/secrecy issues I've encountered while dating ladyboys, and why guys like to keep their fascination for the third gender TOP SECRET.

Geekyguy about to board the fun bus to ladyboy filled Pattaya.
What went on in Thailand has to stay in Thailand -
as far as future employers, girlfriends, etc. etc. are concerned...
First of all I'll say that many men DO like ladyboys. This fact cannot be disputed. I lived in Bangkok for over six months and I spent many, many evenings people watching. One of the many things I learned from living there is that ladyboys are VERY popular. This fact is also borne out by the popularity of ladyboy porn sites, ladyboy cabaret shows, and the popularity of the Sky TV series Ladyboys that was shown in the UK (and repeated many times!).

Reputation Management

Reputation management is important these days. It's so easy to make one bad tweet, one bad Facebook post, and you can end up with egg on your face, or even a jail sentence!

So it's becoming increasingly important to be a little careful about what you do online.

The best thing to do before posting anything online is to ask:
  • Would I feel comfortable showing my mom what I'm posting?
If you're not, then don't post it, or use a pseudonym.

Now I'm not particularly bothered about what people think about me. Hell, I spent more than six months living in Bangkok, so most people think I'm a sex tourist anyway. My family are OK with me befriending ladyboys. In fact thanks to that popular Sky TV series called Ladyboys, my mom kind of likes transgenders anyway!

But on the other hand I have to bear in mind that I'm applying for jobs right now, and if you're a job applicant these days, it's very likely that prospective employers will Google your name. It's happened to me twice in the last month that I've been asked in a job interview about stuff that people interviewing me have seen from searching the web.

Of course it's also possible that future girlfriends might Google my name as well. My experience has told me that the majority of women DO NOT want to marry a guy who has any interest whatsoever in ladyboys.

So unless you don't care at all what other people think about you, it's a good idea to be a little discreet when using online dating sites. In fact quite a few people think that online dating itself is weird. And that's before we get involved with Asian dating, and (shudder) Asian ladyboy dating.

Here are a few tips of dealing with reputation management:

  1. First of all, don't let worlds collide. Keep your work colleagues off your Facebook, and keep your friends off your LinkedIn profile (if you have one).
  2. Reputation management is easier if you have a name like Paul Smith or John Jones! Then you can hope for some security by obscurity. Sadly I have a near-unique name and I've only come across two other people in the entire world with my own particular first name/surname combination. So you'll forgive me for writing under a pseudonym.
  3. Photographic facial recognition is getting good these days, and already Google has a service that can recognise celebrity photos, and Facebook can often identify which of your friends are in your photos. So be careful where you upload your photo to these days. In particular, choose a dating site that only allows logged in members to view photos. Asian Love Connections is a ladyboy dating site I helped to build. As one of the specifications I made sure that profiles of guys seeking ladyboys aren't visible to search engines or anyone who hasn't logged into the site.
  4. Be careful when using Google+ or any Google services. Google has a poor approach to privacy, so whenever I search on Google I use the Private browsing Window in Firefox. I also use BoxPN's excellent and very cheap VPN service as much as I can.
  5. Bear in mind that many people are very hostile towards guys who show interest in ladyboys (as well as being hostile towards ladyboys themselves). If you get problems from friends, then find new friends.
Finally as you get older, you tend to give less of a fuck what other people think about you. So don't worry.

Secrecy on Dating Sites

I help run a ladyboy dating site over at Asian Love Connections. I've noticed that around 20% of men who join upload photos of celebs, or photos with their own faces hidden, and, on occasion, photos of their cocks. In other words the guys like to hide their own identity.

On my own site I don't hesitate to ban any member who uploads a photo of a celebrity - quite apart from the copyright issues, it's just plain dishonest and not fair on the ladyboy members of the site.

I'm more lenient on people who don't upload face shots. But since the site I help run is a mainstream dating site, I ban any members uploading photos of their members (so to speak).

My own opinion is that if you're going to have a relationship with a ladyboy then you're gonna have to be just a little bit more honest with yourself, and not hide behind fake photos and blurry head shots. Ladyboys meet a whole load of jerks in their quest for long lasting love, and you can easily stand out by appearing honest and a man of integrity.

Who Cares About You?

I'm a huge worryer and I also have bouts of extreme paranoia.

So if you're the same as me, I'll point out one important thing: people generally have very little interest in you.

So don't worry about what people think about your interest in ladyboys. Chances are they're not actually thinking of you at all.

You can see this by how quickly celebs "in the news" fall out of the news and are quickly forgotten, until they're re-discovered years later working in a convenience store.

If your work colleagues do somehow find out you're a ladyboy lover then you might get one or two days of grief, but then they'll move onto ribbing somebody else about another matter. And rest assured the guys doing most of the ribbing are highly likely to go home after work and spend a good few hours downloading ladyboy porn.

You can worry even less if you're living in or visiting a "ladyboy friendly" place like Thailand or the Philippines. In Bangkok I dated a ladyboy half my age, yet in the shopping mall where we met we were practically invisible. The only time I really got noticed in Bangkok was when I dated an incredibly hot woman who was a 9 or a 10. Wow, then I did attract a fair bit of attention, but mainly from other women!

The Take Home Message

If you're interested in ladyboys then my advice is to not be in denial about your interest in them.

On the other hand, bear in mind that there is a lot of hostility out there. Not to mention that in some countries it's even illegal to have a relationship with a ladyboy.

So it's perfectly acceptable to be discreet, but just be honest with yourself.

Are you worried about somebody you know finding out about your interest in ladyboys? Leave your comments below (anonymously if you prefer)...

Geek Goes Straight Again?

For the past couple of months I've been dating Thai ladies rather than ladyboys.

Am I through with ladyboys?

Absolutely not!

The issue is that I've found it very hard to find ladyboys I want to date.

Before I'll meet a ladyboy and go on a date with her, she must:
  • Look feminine.
  • Be pre-op and have breasts.
  • Not be too much taller than me, taking into account that I love a girl in heels.
  • Not work in a bar or be any kind of hooker.
  • Not work excessive hours in her job.
  • Actually live somewhere I can go and meet her.
That's quite a demanding list, and if you're similarly demanding, you'll find it much easier just to meet Thai ladies.

While there are many feminine looking ladyboys in Bangkok, there's no getting away from the fact that rather more are just a man in a dress.

Some of the most convincing ladyboys in Thailand are the post-op ones. But I dunno, if you want a ladyboy who's ladylike enough to the point of having a pussy, wouldn't it just be better to date an actual lady?

The height issue has also ruled out many potential ladyboy dates for me. As a guy who's just 5' 6", I find that Bangkok's ladyboys are usually 5' 7" or taller. Factor in the obligatory pair of fabulous heels, and many of them tower over me.

This isn't just a ladyboy thing. I might have once dated a woman who was older than me, but I've NEVER dated a woman who was taller than me. It just wouldn't feel right.

And on the whole job thing, I make it clear that I'll only date ladyboys who have legitimate jobs. There are many ladyboys who work in shops and offices throughout Thailand. If you want to find some real life ladyboys then a good place to go to in Bangkok is MBK. Head for the floor where there are all the little cubicles to buy mobile phones and accessories - it's awash with ladyboy customer service assistants...

Many of MBK's ladyboys are single and are only too happy to chat to you!

By all means date a bar ladyboy or ladyboy freelancer. But be prepared for a life of chaos and probable disappointment.

Which Ladyboy Dating Sites Are The Best?

Which ladyboy dating sites are best? In this post I'll run through the different sites I used to actually meet my ladyboy dates when I was living in Thailand...

Ladyboy Kisses is probably the longest running ladyboy dating site there is. It was established years ago, and unfortunately looks ancient as well.

Still, if you judge a dating site by the number of members then Ladyboy Kisses reigns supreme. There are reckoned to be over 10,000 ladyboy profiles on the site, so there's a huge choice of members to meet.

As my geeky chart shows, it's also a great site if you're particularly interested in younger ladyboys:

Ladyboy Kisses - ladyboy members by age
There are plenty of ladyboys from Thailand on the site, and also some from other countries (particularly Malaysia and Indonesia). But Filipino ladyboys are by far the most numerous.

MyLadyboyDate is run by a friend of mine, so I know this site is legit.

I used the site in its first year of operation. So the site was still filling up with ladyboy profiles.

I chatted with quite a few Bangkok ladyboys through this site. I was impressed that I got something like a 75% response rate to my interests on this site. If only other dating sites offered those sort of statistics!

Sure, about half the ladyboys I chatted to on the site were hookers, but hey, that's Bangkok for you! But to be fair I'd guess that 80% of guys chatting to ladyboys just want sex, and not a long term relationship.

Anyway, it's a pretty decent ladyboy dating site, and if more ladyboys join then it could easily topple Ladyboy Kisses from the #1 spot.

Asian Love Connections is a small Asian dating site and at the time of writing it offered free ladyboy dating. There are also Asian women on the site if you're interested in them as well.

Thai Love Links was the main dating site I used while I was living in Thailand. The site has hundreds of thousands of members, and it's not too hard to find a date.

There are quite a few ladyboys on this site. But the irritation is that you don't know whether to find them while browsing the male or the female profiles. What's worse is that to see the ladyboys who have registered as male, you need to browse through the profiles of guys. Which is kind of not the thing you want to do if you're edgy about the whole if I like ladyboys, am I gay thing.

And you'll also get messages and interests from macho looking guys - yeuch!

Still, if you're interested in chatting to both Thai ladyboys and girls, then this site will keep you busy for a while. I must have got about 30 dates from this site, so it was absolutely worth the monthly subscription fee.

Incidentally, if you're more interested in Philippines dating then Thai Love Links has a sister site called Filipino Cupid. This site has a whole load of ladyboys on it

DateInAsia is the largest FREE Asian dating site out there. There are some ladyboys on there, but they can be a little hard to find. Again, they're hidden amongst both the male and female members on the site.

DateInAsia is quite hostile towards ladyboys which is nonsense given that ladyboys are such a significant part of daily life in countries like Thailand and the Philippines. I've also never, ever dated anyone through the site. Most of the female/ladyboy members are sadly either scammers or hookers. Avoid.

I haven't made much mention of the various sex dating websites out there. There are quite a few of these, with names such as FindAShemaleLover.

While I was in Thailand there was no need to use these sites. If you just want to fuck a ladyboy then you'll find plenty of them in real life, so there's no point in paying a dating site subscription. Instead just take a taxi or a tuk-tuk to Nana Plaza or Soi Cowboy in Bangkok, or to Walking Street in Pattaya.

I also find these sex dating sites to be a bit intimidating. And I wonder how many of them are filled with scammers and fake profiles?

Rest assured that the mainstream ladyboy dating sites mentioned in this article are 100% legit and have plenty of real ladyboys on them. They also have flat rate membership fees (or are free) so you won't get stung with paying for expensive video chats or other services.

So, if you want the best possible choice of ladyboy to chat to, then Ladyboy Kisses is the site to use. However, keep an eye on MyLadyboyDate, which is fast making inroads into the ladyboy dating scene.

If you're not sure about the whole ladyboy thing, then check out Asian Love Connections. At the time of writing it still offered FREE LADYBOY DATING so you can easily sign up and just see for yourself whether you really do want to get into the whole ladyboy relationship thing.

Happy dating!

Dating or Sex? Which Path is Best?

Why do YOU want to meet a ladyboy?

It's essential that you're honest with yourself when you answer this.

Ladyboys are smart enough to know that 90% of guys visiting the Philippines or Thailand to meet ladyboys are just going for the sex. A long term relationship with a ladyboy is the last thing on their minds.

So ladyboy dating and sex really don't mix. If you're visiting the Philippines or Thailand for a vacation and just want to "test drive" a ladyboy, then just find an escort.

My reasons are:

1. Escorts are professionals and will make sure your first time with a ladyboy is a good one. Don't worry if you're shy - ladyboys know that every customer is a first time customer. Few men will actually admit to having a thing for ladyboys!

I've heard that ladyboy escorts usually give you excellent service, and seem less temperamental than biological ladies.

2. Dating is hard work. It takes time to chat to potential dates, then set dates up. Life is hard in Thailand, especially for ladyboys who face a lot of discrimination from potential employers. And it's not uncommon for ladyboys with jobs in shopping malls or offices to work 6 days a week. So by the time you've arranged to meet, you might be on the plane home!

Plus ladyboys have occasional disasters like food poisoning. You could spend months chatting to a cute ladyboy online, and when you finally get to Pattaya she could flake on you. Darn that street food!!!

Thai Ladyboys and ladies really love that Bangkok street food...
3. It's cheaper!

I spent 6 months living in Bangkok. If you add up the costs of dates and compared it with the costs of hiring a ladyboy hooker...

There's no contest. It's MUCH CHEAPER to just hire a hooker than to get a non-hooker into bed. Hmmm, the sex would no doubt be much better with the hooker as well.

If you want to make contact with ladyboys before you travel to Asia, then check out these dating sites:

Incidentally you'll find a mixture of hookers and non-hookers on these sites. The ladyboys will normally be pretty up-front about which type of ladyboy they are. In most cases it's pretty easy to tell from the types of photos they upload to their profiles.

My Third Date With a Ladyboy

After a bit of a hiatus it was time for third date with my ladyboy.

I really hate losing momentum in a relationship, but I've generally found dating to be an immensely slow process in Thailand.

Still, at least I have things better than my friend. He told me the Thai girl he likes works 14 hours a day in a restaurant, so his options for taking her out on dates are limited in the extreme.

Chinese ladies worked pretty long hours, and that was a bit of a problem when I was dating in China. But most ladies I met only worked M-F, so weekends were good for dating. Here in Thailand it's relatively common for people to work 6 or even 7 days a week. And there also seem to be far fewer public holidays than there were in China.

But I digress...

How did 3rd date go?

For the third date we ate at Pizza Hut. This was the first time I'd been to Pizza Hut in Thailand, although I went there 100's of times in China!

Thailand's Pizza Huts serve food with a Thai flair - think Pizzas with seafood stick toppings.

Well we ended up with all kinds of food I wasn't sure I ordered - a common occurrence when your date doesn't speak English.

Then she had to go home again - she is young and her parents are quite strict. But I'm hopeful of 4th date.

I've broken so many rules with this ladyboy, quite apart from the fact that she's a ladyboy. But in general I'd recommend that you only date Asian ladies/ladyboys who speak a fair amount of English. And it's much easier to date somebody who's had a sexual relationship before. Then you can escalate a lot more quickly, certainly by the 3rd date.

Still, I'm planning on staying in Thailand for the long term, so I can afford to take things slowly.

Incidentally, like on the first date, farang with young ladyboy was not at all interesting to the general population. I don't recall seeing any strange looks at all. So don't worry if you have misgivings about being seen in public with a ladyboy. Here in Thailand it's nothing unusual at all. Actually the most unusual thing of all here is seeing a white Western guy with a white Western wife!

Oh, and I almost forgot. My ladyboy looked very hot today! Thai University students have to wear uniforms. They come in two types - demure and slutty. Today I got the slutty look! This is what I'm talking about:

The Whole Age and Age Difference Thing

My first ever date with a ladyboy was with a cutie who was half my age.

Am I stupid for dating a ladyboy half my age? Of course! But I'm old enough to know better.

So what age of ladyboy is it worth dating?

If you want a lasting relationship, then I'll recommend you be wary of ladyboys who are younger than 24. At that age they're still coming to terms with their sexuality, and can sometimes have big psychological issues.

Ladyboys are very popular when they're young, but once they get to 26-27 their popularity wanes, and they start to look for a more long term relationship. This is the age to seek out when you're after a ladyboy girlfriend.

I will also encourage you to seek out the older ladyboys. I've seen some fabulous ladyboys who are in their early to mid 30's. Biological men generally have firmer skin than women so ladyboys can go on looking hot for years. Thai people generally age more slowly than Western people. That much was apparent when I dated a 35yo Thai-Chinese woman who looked 24!

One good thing is that it's pretty easy to find a younger ladyboy girlfriend. I did some geeky Excel work on the ages of the ladyboy members of the popular Ladyboy Kisses dating site:

As you can see, most of the ladyboy members of the site are in their 20's, with smaller numbers in their 30's There are very few older ladyboys on the site - way fewer than there would be Asian ladies on sites like Asian Love Connections or Filipino Cupid.

I didn't do the same chart for the male members of the site. But in Bangkok I've seen guys of all ages with ladyboys at their side. If anything though, ladyboys are even more popular with younger guys.

I'm 40 and my first ladyboy date was 20. Is that an excessive age difference, or would you contemplate an even larger age difference?
